It’s uncommon to witness news anchors leading a prayer on a news channel since most channels aim to maintain a secular environment for their audience. Fox News host Pete Hegseth shared different ideas during a segment sponsored by a Bible app on “Fox & Friends,” inviting his co-hosts and viewers to pray with him.
Hegseth kicked things off by creating a more relaxed atmosphere, stating, “We have more ‘Fox & Friends’ coming up, but you know what, this is a transition for transitions if you’ve ever had one,” which led to laughter from his co-hosts. Rachel Campos-Duffy then joined in, “So ‘Fox & Friends’.” Hegseth playfully agreed, “This is very ‘Fox & Friends,’ so brace yourself.”
On the 5th Sunday of Lent, Hegseth mentioned that the prayer series from the Hallow app will be read. He encouraged everyone to participate by closing their eyes and bowing their heads in prayer.
While his co-hosts Campos-Duffy and Will Cain bowed their heads respectfully, Hegseth led the prayer on-screen, using the Hallow app. He prayed, “Jesus, as we start the sacred time of passion tide today. In these final 2 weeks of Lent, guide us to comprehend the mystery of your sacrifice and surrender, make us deeply feel your love for us. We pray that you reveal yourself to us, assist us in sensing the grace of your presence.”.
Hegseth finished the prayer by thanking Christ for his sacrificial love on the cross and appreciating the Hallow app for collaborating with the show during Lent. Campos-Duffy added a sincere “Amen.”
It’s typical for Fox News hosts to show their faith on television. During a recent segment featuring Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, host Kayleigh McEnany shared her opinion that he believes God is guiding him.
“To everyone out there, pray for him as our speaker,” co-host Ainsley Earhardt added. “Our country really needs some guidance from God right now.”
Although the right to practice religion is widely accepted, some people were upset by a prayer broadcasted on air. Despite this, many others viewed it as a good thing. It led to discussions among viewers, with some being doubtful and others praising the hosts for including a prayer.
